Describe the declarative customization options available for the Salesforce mobile application user interface.
The Salesforce App offers a mobile user interface for Salesforce. It is provided in addition to the desktop user interfaces Salesforce Classic and Lightning Experience. The Salesforce App is optimized to navigate and interact with Salesforce on a touchscreen.
The Salesforce App supports offline access, to securely cache Salesforce data on mobile devices. If offline access is enabled, mobile users can create, edit, and delete Salesforce data without an internet connection. Offline changes are synced automatically with Salesforce, as soon as mobile users go online again.
Some user interface customizations in Salesforce Classic and Lightning Experience are not reflected in the Salesforce App. However, the Salesforce App offers separate features to customize the user interface on mobile devices. Following customization features are available:
The appearance of the Salesforce App can be customized to match a company's branding. The background color of the key user interface and the loading page can be changed. Additionally, the standard image displayed on the loading page can be replaced with a custom logo.
The Salesforce App doesn’t support standard or custom Salesforce apps. Instead, its navigation menu gives mobile users access to Salesforce features. The navigation menu items and their order can be configured. Supported items are Salesforce tabs, productivity items, smart search items, Visualforce tabs, and Lightning Page tabs. The first item in the navigation menu becomes the landing page for Salesforce App users.
In addition to the navigation menu, the appearance of global actions can be customized for the Salesforce App. Global actions and their order is derived from global publisher layouts. To change global actions in the Salesforce App, the global publisher layout can be modified.
Compact layouts can be used to define which fields appear in the highlights panel at the top of record pages. Up to ten fields can be included in compact layouts. However, in the Salesforce App only up to the first four fields appear, if space is sufficient.
