Roll-up summary fields automatically calculate and update their values based on related records. They can only be used in master-detail relationships, to calculate values on master records based on values in detail records.
Roll-up summary fields can perform arithmetic calculations to summarize related detail records on master records. In addition, filters can be applied to only include specific detail records the calculations. As roll-up summary fields calculate their values, they are read-only for all users.
