Given a scenario, describe the configuration of Mobile Studio.
The Mobile Studio application can be used to create, send, and track personalized emails to mobile devices. It consists of three channel applications: MobileConnect, MobilePush, and GroupConnect.
Mobile Studio consists of three channel applications to send marketing messages to mobile devices. Each application is used reach a different mobile channel.
|MobileConnect||SMS and MMS|
|MobilePush||Mobile app push|
|GroupConnect||LINE and Facebook Messenger|
The MobileConnect application can be used to create, send, receive, and track SMS and MMS text messages. Its functionality is integrated in Content Builder and Journey Builder.
The following message templates are available in MobileConnect.
|Outbound Message||Send SMS text messages to subscribers.|
|Outbound Media||Send MMS text messages to subscribers.|
|Text Response||Send SMS auto-replies to incoming messages based on keyword.|
|Media Response||Send MMS auto-replies to incoming messages based on keyword.|
|Vote/Survey||Ask subscribers to vote or respond to a survey.|
|Info Capture||Ask subscribers to provide information stored in Contact attribute.|
|Mobile Opt-in||Invite customers to subscribe to SMS/MMS messages.|
|Email Opt-In||Invite customers to subscribe to email messages.|
|Send Email||Invite customers to receive a triggered email.|
|SMS Keyword Opt-out||Unsubscribe subscribers from a single keyword (Australia only).|
SMS is supported in all countries for which MobileConnect is available, but MMS is only supported in the U.S.
Depending on the country, MobileConnect can send text messages from a short code, long code, or a from name.
In the U.S. a short code can be used to send text messages from MobileConnect. A short code is for example a 5-digit phone number.
In all other countries which MobileConnect supports, text messages can be sent from a long code. A long code is for example a 10 digit phone number.
In some countries, text messages can also be sent from a name instead of a short or long code. With a from name, customers will only see a name as the sender of the text message. They will not see the short or long code behind the from name.
Because customers cannot reply to from names, this feature should only be used for one-way outbound messages.
A from name can be up to 11 characters long, including resolved personalization strings. In Enterprise 2.0 accounts, a different From Name can be defined for each business unit.
Keywords are used to identify text message exchanges between MobileConnect and mobile devices. They allow to handle incoming messages from subscribers based on the first word in the message.
A keyword must be between 2 and 25 characters long. Reserved keywords include: YES, NO, Y, N, Maybe, Confirm, STOP, QUIT, CANCEL, END, and UNSUBSCRIBE. In Enterprise 2.0 accounts, keywords cannot be shared across business units and the same keyword cannot be defined in different business units.
Send blackouts can be defined to prevent MobileConnect from sending outgoing text messages during a certain time period. They prevent sending an immediate message during the blackout period, as well as scheduling a send with the blackout period. However, send blackouts don’t stop or pause sends which started before the blackout period, but are not completed until the beginning of the blackout period.
The mandatory keywords HELP and STOP help to manage unsubscribes in MobileConnect.
The HELP keyword provides subscribers with additional information about text messages sent with MobileConnect, such as how they can unsubscribe. At least one HELP keyword must be configured.
The STOP keyword globally unsubscribes a subscriber from all keywords assigned to a short or long code. At least one STOP keyword must be configured. The following terms defined as STOP keywords by default: STOP, QUIT, CANCEL, END, UNSUBSCRIBE.
HELP or STOP keywords defined in Enterprise 2.0 accounts apply to all business units using the same short or long code.
The MobilePush application can be used to create, send, and track notifications to custom mobile apps. Its functionality is integrated in Content Builder and Journey Builder.
The following message templates are available in MobilePush.
|Outbound Message||Send notifications to Contacts based on attributes.|
|Location Entry Message||Send notifications to Contacts entering geographic location.|
|Location Exit Message||Send notifications to Contacts leaving geographic location.|
|Beacon Message||Send notifications to Contacts located around physical beacon.|
|Inbox||Send persisting messages to the app inbox.|
To use MobilePush functionality in a custom mobile app, the app must implement the Marketing Cloud MobilePush SDK available for Android and iOS devices. A unique app ID, access token, and app endpoint can be generated in MobilePush and referenced in the SDK implementation.
Send blackouts can be defined to prevent MobilePush from sending app messages during a certain time period. They prevent sending an immediate message during the blackout period, as well as scheduling a send with the blackout period. However, send blackouts don’t stop or pause sends which started before the blackout period, but are not completed until the beginning of the blackout period.
Contacts can subscribe or unsubscribe to MobilePush messages by changing the notification settings for the app in Android and iOS. If a Contact deletes the mobile app or disables notifications for the app, then the mobile operating system sends this information. MobilePush then changes the device status to opted-out.
The GroupConnect application can be used to create, send, and track notifications to mobile messaging apps, such as LINE or Facebook Messenger. Functionality for the LINE app is integrated in Content Builder and Journey Builder. The Facebook Messenger app is only supported via API.
The following message types are available in GroupConnect.
|Follow||Welcome new Contacts and to ask to provide information stored in Contact attribute.|
|Outbound||Send text messages to Contacts.|
|Response||Send text auto-replies to Contacts.|
|Carousel||Send up to 10 video, image, audio, or text elements to Contacts.|
|Multi-Content||Send up to 5 video, image, audio, or text elements to Contacts.|
GroupConnects integrates with the LINE API using a client id and client secret, provisioned after registering a LINE business account.
Contacts can subscribe and unsubscribe to GroupConnect messages from the LINE app. The app relays opt-in and opt-out information to GroupConnect, which stores this information on the Contact record. If a contact unsubscribe, the LINE app relays that opt-out to GroupConnect and deletes any applicable information from the Contact record.
