Given a scenario, determine the steps to provision Community users.
Every external community user must be associated with an Account record in Salesforce. Customer Users are associated with a Person Account and Partner Users with a Business Account and Contact.
Customer Users can be created from Person Account records. The Person Account object represents individuals and combines the Account and Contact objects. One Person Account therefore represents one external Customer Users.
Customer Users can be created from Person Account records, by clicking the Enable Customer User button.
Customer Users can be associated with one of the following community licenses:
Partner Users can be created from Contact records associated with Business Account records. The Business Account object represents companies, and the Contact object is used for individuals working at those companies. One Business Account can therefore be associated with several external Partner Users.
To create Partner Users, their related Business Account must first be enabled as a Partner Account. Contacts related to this Business Account can then be converted to Partner Users.
Partner Users can be associated with one of the following community licenses:
Instead of creating users in the Salesforce org, users can also be allowed to self-register for a community. Since each external user must be associated with an Account, a default Account for self-registered users can be set under Administration > Login & Registration in Community Workspaces.
In order for community users to access a community, the profile or a permission set associated with their User record needs to be enabled for a community. This allows a single community user to access multiple communities in the same Salesforce org.
Profiles and permission sets can be enabled under Administration > Members in Community Workspaces.
Internal Salesforce users can log in as external community users. From the Contact record associated with an external, they can click on Log In As Community User.
If an external user has access to multiple communities in the same Salesforce org, the relevant community can be selected from a picklist.
