Describe the capabilities of Communities Search.
The search experience of external users depends on the template associated with a community. However, some search behavior is independent of the template.
The objects available for search in communities can be controlled via the profiles and permission sets assigned to external users.
To make a custom object searchable, a custom tab must be created for that object in the internal Salesforce org.
If an external user searches in a community based on any template, the search results only include:
Furthermore, external users can only search in the following fields on any object:
External users of communities based on Lightning templates can use the global search to find relevant information.
Following objects are supported in this search:
The objects available for search can be configured with the Global Search Results component on the Search page in Community Builder.
Global search results can be refined based on selected fields, to limit the number of records in the results list. This feature can be enabled or disabled in the Global Search Result component for communities.
The fields available to refine the search results can be configured separately for each object under Search Layouts > Search Results in the Salesforce setup. Supported field types are checkbox, phone number, picklist, text, and URL.
The search experience in communities based on the Visualforce + Tabs template depends on whether Chatter is enabled or not.
If Chatter is enabled, then global search and feed search are available too.
The global search allows external users to search for records, comments, files, people, groups, topics, and feed posts. The feed search allows them to search for information within Chatter feeds, such as on groups, user profiles, records, and the community feed.
If Chatter is disabled, then only sidebar search is available.
The sidebar search only allows external users to search for items that are not depended on Chatter, such as records and comments.
There are no practice questions for this objective.
